Dear Editor,
In response to a letter sent to the Junior Minister of Indigenous People’s Affairs by a student of Paramakatoi Secondary School in Guyana, the Brooklyn Pacesetters Lions Club responded to the call for help. Stationery and personal items were collected in the US and presented to the Junior Minister of Indigenous Peoples Affairs, the Hon. Valerie Garrido-Lowe at her office on August 08. Both Lion Wade and Leo Forde took the opportunity to speak to the Minister about the work of the Lions clubs globally and in Guyana. The items will benefit student Ms. Shondell Stanislaus and smaller packages will be created and distributed to those in need with the excess items. The Minister promised to provide feedback on how Lions and Leos clubs can further assist those in need in the interior regions of Guyana. The cost of the items handed over was approximately US $310.04/GUY $63, 560.
