Police Sergeant Rawle Nedd was deemed competent to testify in the Preliminary Inquiry (PI) for which Alan Sim Sr., is charged with the murder of Melissa Skeete, a former dispatcher at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
Skeete’s body was picked up on November 23, 2015, at Carmichael Street, Georgetown, with multiple stab wounds.
The PI commenced yesterday before Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
The police witness was permitted to testify in the PI by the Magistrate, even after several objections were raised by attorney Latchmie Rahamat, who is representing Sim. The address of the accused was given as Lot 86 Paradise Housing Scheme, East Coast Demerara.
Sergeant Nedd’s testimony in relation to investigations he conducted in the matter was adjourned until September 28.
Sergeant Nedd is attached to the Crime Laboratory, Criminal Investigation Department Headquarters, Eve Leary, Georgetown. He is a fingerprint technician, crime scene technician and crime scene photographer. To date, he has visited over 2000 crime scenes.
It was reported that Skeete, formerly of 94 Prince William Street, Plaisance, East Coast Demerara, was stabbed multiple times about her body. The incident occurred in the vicinity of Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre.
