Alpha ‘The Hammer’ United has signaled their intentions early that they are going full throttle to regain top club status in Guyana following their loss to Slingerz FC in the inaugural Stag Elite League Champion of Champions showdown.
Slingerz won the Genesis leg of the league while Alpha prevailed in the Finale but the former won the champion of champion face off to take top club status in Guyana.
Not satisfied with not being the #1, Alpha has strengthened their roster by adding 12 new signings as indicated on the list of transfers released by the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) for the new season.
The GFF in a release said that it has facilitated a total of 37 transfers (inclusive of 3 international) with Alpha leading the way followed by Fruta Conquerors and Georgetown Football club with 7 and six respectively.
The other clubs named taking in new players are Pele Football Club (3), Slingerz Football Club (2), Northern Rangers Football Club (2), while there was one each for Buxton United FC, Riddim Squad FC, Snatchers FC, Stewartville FC and Winners Connection FC.
The GFF noted that the tally was finalised at the end of the designated transfer window, which ended on July 31, 2016 and included transfers from the Trinidad and Tobago Football Association and the US Soccer Association.
The international transfers saw Pernell Shultz being loaned to the Alpha United Football Club and Domini Garnett’s loan being extended for the season, both from Caledonia AIA (Trinidad & Tobago) and Kevin Beaton permanently engaged to the Georgetown Football Club from the Brooklyn Italians Soccer Club.
The GFF’s Competition Director, Ian Alves, said the transfer period was incident-free with the bulk of activity happening in the final week of the transfer window. The GFF’s pre-season transfer period began on June 1, 2016. The next season is scheduled to commence in September 2016.
