Dear Editor,
In May 2015, I voted for a change of government. I gave my vote to his Excellency President Granger, as I favoured him over the incumbent Donald Ramotar. I did so, like the majority of Guyanese who believed that David Granger was the man best suited for the job he currently holds. When we voted for the APNU-AFC Coalition, our minds were first and foremost focused on him. We were filled with confidence that the many wrongs, including allegations of corruption, nepotism, and total disregard for the rule of law by the PPP Administration will come to an end with the advent of a David Granger led government. Suffice to say that our expectations so far have not been met as the daily scandals of bad governance seemingly continue unabated.
From major fiascos in the Town Council of Georgetown to the most recent misappropriations from the contingencies fund, as it concerns the renting of space to store government drugs in Charlestown just to name a few. I am of the strong conviction that these deeds are having an adverse effect on the development of the nation and such acts only serve to create lack of confidence among the citizens of Guyana.
When this happens, the population of the country becomes disenchanted with government and as a result, chaos, anarchy and the many ills of a dysfunctional society comes to the fore as history have time and again proven. It is, I believe the obligation of the President to act and act decisively to curb these derogative and unwanted acts. The buck stops with you Mr. President.
