‘Jumbo Jet’ by name and nature is huge in whatever it does and as such the sponsors of the 10th Annual Guyana Cup Horseracing event is making a gargantuan investment as it rolls out a sumptuous programme for Guyana’s biggest horserace meet. The event, which is set for this Sunday at the Port Mourant “Big Yard” Turf Club, will be the biggest yet.
The event is organized by the Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and Racing Stables, with establishments at various parts throughout Guyana in collaboration with the Port Mourant Turf Club (PMTC). Coupled with Guyana celebrating its 50th Independence Anniversary the organisers have come up with an enormous $30M and over package which makes it by far the single largest sporting event in Guyana.
Known as the ‘Sport of Kings’ horseracing is being dubbed as the number one sporting event in the country with by far the largest prize money on offer for any sport. Thus the Jumbo Jet Business Enterprise and friends are offering big winnings for the races. In the interim, the mighty Crown Vibes Sound System, which is arguably the largest sound system in the country, has now joined the fray and will be providing musical vibes throughout the day.
Nine top of the line races are carded for the day with a number of feature events on the day’s card.
The feature A class event has real money on offer totaling a whopping $8M in cash and prizes with the winner taking home the lavish $4M and the Guyana Cup trophy over 1800M along with bragging rights, plus a $500,000 bonus for the winning.
Horses such as King’s Knight, CP Got Even, CP Got Even, Just Call Me Boss, Princess She Not, Golden Blue Echo, Spit Fire, Plum Plum, and Lady Budapest, Climate Change, Blame the Jockey, Jack in MY Style and the newly imported Brave Sky out of the USA are set to take the arena by storm.
Most of the other events have top class line up with Witchy Poo, Red Rocket, Isn’t She Charming and Firing Line competing for the $2M and trophy in the 3 year old co-feature 1600M event for Guyana and West Indies bred and born horses.
Super Cat, Royal Jet, Perfect Gold, King Stanley, Awesome Cash, Flash Again, Natural Beauty, Genuine Risk, Seven Dust are among the two year old Guyana Bred horses competing for the $400,000 first prize and trophy over 1100M.
The jockeys in those events will reap extra cash for their victories.
The E and lower event which goes for 1300M for a take home of $800,000 and trophy, will have Release the Beast, Plum Plum, Perfect Wind Storm, Keep On Swinging and Wise Secret among others competing.
Big Man Boss, Captain Crook, Got To Go, Quiet Strom, It’s My Choice, Cat Messiah and Valtimore out of Suriname have been entered in the Suriname Invitational G1 and Lower and West Indies and Guyana open event for horses that haven’t started since August 30th 2015. The winning prize is $650,000 and trophy over 1200M.
The H1 and lower 1200M race for West Indies bred horses that have not started since August 30th 2015 for a $400,000 first prize and trophy includes Cat Messiah, Appealing Harvest, Rosetta, Super Bowl and It’s My Turn among others.
She So Special has entered in the event for 4years and over Guyana Bred, H3 and lower and 4 years and over West Indies bred non earners as they compete for a winner’s money of $400,000 and trophy.
The event for J and K class horses will see 4 years and over animals from Suriname matching skills against the Guyanese animals for the $350,000 and trophy. Among those entered so far are Party Time, Peace of Cash, Slim Shady, Secret Thinker, Amazon Warrior, Little, Red Region and Red Jet and the Suriname pair of Expresso and Buffen.
The L and lower 1100M event for a winning purse of $250,000 and trophy will cater for horses from both Guyana and Suriname with Mystery Man, Plan Land, Three P Prince People Will Talk, Daddy’s Dollar, Affinity, Iron man, Fire ball, Blundy, Dirt Man, Blue Lightning, Lil Axe, Momentum, and Peace among others set to race.
The top Jockey along with the runner up, the top stable and champion trainer will all be presented with trophies and other incentives compliments of the organizers and Trophy Stall.
