Dear Editor;
I need this letter to be published in the newspaper. An investigation needs to be done by the sanitary department in the Soesdyke district on the East Bank Demerara. A man rears pigs in the area. It is an environmental hazard. He feeds his pigs everything rotten (fish guts, rotten eggs etc,). The man boils up this stuff to feed these animals and the stench is horrible. Countless reports were given to the sanitary inspectors. None was successful because they have been compromised. This is because when people come to visit, someone from the department tips him off. He cleans up and the stench finishes for a few days, then it is back again. We have kids and this thing has been happening for years.
