Multimillion-dollar pump stations to be built along ECD

During the opening of tenders at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB), a contract for constructing pump stations along the East Coast of Demerara (ECD) attracted colossal bids. They will be built at Lusignan (Lot one), Buxton/Vigilance (Lot two) and Hope/Enmore (Lot three).
The contract is being administered by the Ministry of Agriculture – Agriculture Sector Development Unit (ASDU). The engineer’s estimate for lot one was $370M. For lot two it was $256.2M and for lot three, $424.2M.

There was also a contract under the Protected Areas Commission. According to the stipulations of the contract, it is to provide consultancy services for the development of Clear Guidelines and Procedures to incorporate the National Parks Commission into the Protected Areas Commission.
