A convict who was recently released from jail will be spending the next 18 months behind bars, after he was convicted on a charge of break and enter and larceny.
Manraj Adnarine, 41, of Meadow Bank, was sent to prison for breaking into the dwelling house of Cedric Richardson and stealing a television set, a blender, a quantity of gold jewellery and a tape deck – all totaling $515,000 on June 17, at Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
The sentence was handed down yesterday by Magistrate Dylon Bess in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
According to court facts, the defendant was caught by the virtual complainant in the house.
At his first court appearance, Adnarine had pleaded not guilty to the allegation but was remanded to prison after he failed to provide the court with a lot number for his address.
The man had denied breaking into the premises and claimed that when the offence occurred he was in prison serving four months for a simple larceny conviction.
