Director of Sport, Christopher Jones has extended a message of encouragement to the Guyanese contingent currently in neighbouring Brazil for the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. Guyana is competing in the Track and Field and Swimming competitions.
Below is the full text of the message:
“The Direct of Sport, Mr. Christopher Jones wishes to extend best wishes to Team Guyana at the Rio 2016 Olympics. The pride of our nation rests on your shoulders and no doubt you will display the results of your hard work, zeal and dedication.
The country stands in awe as you represent the Golden Arrowhead with distinction in your disciplines!
We are confident that the spirit of Michael Parris, who would have, achieved Guyana’s first Olympic medal in 1980 courses through your veins and will bring renewed strength and vigour for our success.
All the best… bring home GOLD!”
