Superior Woods defeated Albion Masters by 60 runs when the Wolf’s Challenge Cup softball tournament continued on Sunday last. Playing at Malteenoes Sports Club, Superior Woods batted first and posted 156-7 off their allocation of 20 overs.
Surujlall Kumar made 41, Peter Persaud 22 and Rudolph Johnson 22 not out. John Sumir claimed 3-23. Albion were bowled out for 96 in 17 overs in reply. B. Lanchand got 36 as Roy Persaud snared 4-8 and Peter Persaud 3-18.
H S Masters edged Regal Masters by 11 runs. Batting first, HS Masters managed 143-4 in 20 overs with Danny Mohanram scoring 64 and B. Lakeram 25; David Harper took 2-26. Regal could only manage 132-6. Mahase Chunilall made 30 while Mahendra Hardyal contributed 21; B. Lakeram captured 3-13 and M. Arjune 2-23.
Wolf’s Warriors overcame Fisherman by three wickets. Fisherman took first strike and got to 139-9. G. Persaud struck 53; H. Dhanraj had 3-20. Wolf’s Warriors replied with 140-7 in 18 overs. Raghunandan Narine made 30 and F. Bacchus 25.
At Gandhi Youth Organisation, Mike’s Wellman defeated H S Masters by 28 runs on Monday. Wellman batted first and rattled up 192-9. Eon Lovell scored 41, Nandram Samlall 39, Wayne Jones 27 and Richard Persaud 25; Rudolph Johnson grabbed 4-25.
HS Masters responded with 164-5. Peter Persaud slammed 51, Johnson 32 and Oslyn Batson 32. Latchman Kallicharran had 2-18 and Wayne Jones 2-21. The competition continues tomorrow with Floodlight facing Savage Masters (10:00hrs) and Superior Woods playing Savage (13:00hrs) on pitch one.
On pitch two Wellman will battle HS Masters (10:00hrs), Wellwoman will challenge Blue Divas (13:00hrs) and 4R Lioness will entertain Enterprise Divas at 14:30hrs in the female segment.
At GYO, Fisherman Masters will take on Regal Masters (10:00hrs) and 1:00pm Parika Defenders will battle Tropical Springs (13:00hrs). At Jailing Ground, Albion Masters will face Wolf Warriors Masters at 11:00hrs.
