Digital Technology, located on the Public Road, Diamond and 74 Brickdam, yesterday handed over a 42″ LG Smart TV to the Boyce and Jefford Track and Field Committee that will be used as a Gate Prize for the August 27-28 Championships.
The prize forms one of 10 prizes all worth over $50,000 to commemorate Guyana’s 50th year of Independence, which the Coordinators of the track meet announced that they will give to lucky ticket holders.
The giveaways segment has become a feature of the track meet to give back to patrons, who have helped with the growth of the competition. Last year, the Coordinators gave away five prizes that included a 20 pennyweight gold chain.
This year they have included two gold chains among the items to be given away. The retail value of the 42″ LG TV at Digital Technology is $127,000. Administrative Manager, Gillian Bisnauth said yesterday that the store currently has a sale.
She said that the company is happy to be associated with such a major event that also considers giving back to supporters as well as athletes. Chairman of the Boyce/Jefford Committee, Colin Boyce thanked the Proprietor, Terrence Sukhu for his contribution.
Boyce said that the “attractive” gate prizes that are given to Adult ticket holders have become a feature of the meet. He said that it is something that the community looks forward to annually; as such it is only fitting to continue to improve the gate prizes.
Apart from the LG TV and gold chains, an airline ticket to Jamaica, compliments of Fly Jamaica, food hamper and $50,000 are among the items to be handed out during the drawing at the event, which will be held at the MSC Ground, Linden.
