Prominent Attorney-at-law Mursalene Bacchus is questioning the decision made by Magistrate Judy Latchman who presided over the first sitting of the Black Bush trio in the Mibicuri triple murder. Bacchus is upset that Magistrate Latchman did not follow the law.
He said that according to the law the Magistrate’s duty was to transfer the matter to the Magistrate of the district where the offence was committed and not send it to the Chief Magistrate. The matter should have been transferred to Whim, he said.
Bacchus in supporting his claim quoted the summary jurisdiction act of the Criminal Law offence act.
Bacchus who is set to appear for the accused in the matter plans to take the matter further.
