Both the M.V.Sabanto and the M V. Kanawan have resumed service plying the Good Hope/Supenaam Ferry stelling. The M.V.Sabanto which crashed into the Good Hope/Supenaam stelling, almost a week ago, was transporting passengers into Supenaam.
Shortly after, the vessel was taken out of service.
It was reported that the boat collided and damaged a section of the stelling last week Tuesday. Repair works have since begun to the stelling.
Captain Francis who worked with Transport and Harbours Department for 44 years said, at the time of the accident he was not captaining the boat however, another individual was performimng that duty. Francis, however, said his job is to give instructions, and he cannot say what caused the boat engine to accelerate causing the Chinese to lose control and collided into the Stelling.
Francis further noted that couple of yards before Supenaam there is a creek and most time when the tide is low, the boats traversing that particular area usually wait on the tide for a short period before it resumed normal momentum.
During the boat collision no passengers were hurt. Two vehicles sustained minor damage. Those drivers have since lodged complaints with senior members of TH&D and the police.
