The organisers of the Golden Jubilee Guyana Cup Horserace meet has taken the event to another level as the stakes has been pushed to a whopping $30M in cash, trophies and other incentives with the addition of another event and the more incentives on the platter.
Staying through to their word to up the ante for the mega event which is also being held in recognition of its 10th anniversary the organisers are going all the way to make it the biggest and best so far.
Nine events are now on the programme which is slated for Sunday August 14th at the Port Mourant (Big Yard) Turf Club, Corentyne Berbice.
Like name and nature the Jumbo Jet organized activity which is being held in collaboration with the Port Mourant Turf Club has been having some jumbo Investment from some major sponsors including the Government of Guyana and Banks DIH Limited.
The mega event according to Nazrudeen “Jumbo Jet” Mohamed Junior is undoubtedly the biggest horserace event in Guyana. With this being the 10th anniversary of the event and the country also celebrating its 50th Independence Anniversary the organisers are bent on making the Guyana Cup horserace meet 2016 the best ever.
A number of changes and adjustment have been made to the days programme to make it more attractive and have more participation.
The feature “A” and lower event has been confirmed that the distance will be 1800M with a substantial $4M winners prize in addition to the Guyana Cup Trophy from a total package of $8M. The co-feature event for 3yrs old horses, bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies will see the winner taking home an encouraging $2M and trophy over 1600M.
The two year old event is for Guyana Bred horses with a first prize of $400,000 and trophy over 1100M. The E and lower event for a winning tag of $800,000 and trophy will now be running over 1500M.
The event for G1 and lower horses is for animals from Suriname and those from Guyana.
There is a race for horses classified H and lower and West Indies bred that has not started since August 30th 2015. The distance is 1200M for a winner’s money of $400,000.
Horses classified H3 and West Indies Maiden and also open To Guyana Bred trotters will have their chance to race over 1200M for a winner’s money of $400,000.
The event for J and K class horses will see animals from Suriname matching their skills against the Guyanese animals over 1100M for a take home incentive of $350,000 and trophy.
Horses from Suriname have also been tagged to feature in the L and lower event against those from Guyana over 1100M for a winning purse of $250,000 and trophy.
Among the animals from Suriname expected over the weekend to race are Wise Secret, Vaultimore Expresso and Buffen among others. All the animals will be competing under the “Club Neutral stable”.
Meanwhile, another major sponsor in the Goodwood Racing Service of Guyana will be taking their betting skills to the track as they join the slew of sponsors already on board for the jumbo event.
Among the sponsors already on board are Banks DIH Limited, Trophy Stall, Phaghoo General Store of West Coast, Berbice, Assuria Insurance Company, Prem’s Grocery and Beer Garden, West Coast, Berbice, Fix It Vulcanizing and Tire Shop West Coast, Berbice, Hand In Hand Insurance Company, Colours Boutique of Georgetown, BM Soat Auto Sales, Jameel Bar and Entertainment Lounge, the Muneshwar Store, the Hyper Malt Beverage Company, Rambrich Enterprise of Corentyne and BM Soat Auto Spares.
A number of added attractions and incentives have been made available including for the winners of the A class, the three year old and the two year old races. They will get an extra $500,000, $400,000 and $200,000 bonuses respectively.
The top Jockey along with the runner up, the top stable and champion trainer will all be presented with trophies and other incentives compliments of the organizers and Trophy Stall.
The coordinator is Nasrudeen (Jumbo Jet) Mohamed Jnr. Bugle time is 12:00 hrs.
