Skipper Sachin Singh struck a fine half century as defending champions Guyana defeated
Windward Islands by seven wickets when the Regional U15 50-over tournament commenced in Grenada on Wednesday.
Singh slammed four fours and one six off 66 balls before he was dismissed for 50 as Guyana scored 109-3 in 37.4 overs, chasing 108 at Progress Park. Yeudistir Persaud supported with 29 as Joslev Valmond took 2-10.
Earlier, Garvin Serieux made 31 and Jimmy Buddy 21 for Windwards who were bowled out in 41 overs. Leon Swamy had 2-14, Daniel Paul 2-18 Suresh Deodat 2-19 and Gevon Schultz 2-23.
At Tanteen, Leewards beat Jamaica by two wickets. Batting first, Jamaica scored 141 all out in 42.4 overs. Razzaq Williams got 28 and Romario Bames 27; K’von Esdaille took 2-13 and Taiem Tonge 2-22.
Leewards responded with 142-8 in 45.4 overs. Kenny Sutton made 33 and Tariq Newman 22; Romaine Jacob grabbed 4-36.
At La Sagesse, Trinidad and Tobago overcame Barbados by 23 runs. Trinidad and Tobago took first knock and managed 174-8. Jayden Seales stroked 41; Leon Basanoo made 24 as Renacko Belgrave took 2-8 and Jediah Blades 2-26.
Barbados were bowled out for 151 in 46.1 overs in reply. Seth Agard made 35 while Reshawn Worrell made 32 not out; Tariq Mohammed snared 3-21. (CMC)
