German’s Restaurant is continuing its commitment towards the encouragement and development of Guyana’s sportsmen and women. The entity’s latest commitment has been manifested in a timely donation to Guyana’s Women’s Under-21 Baseball team aka the ‘Kanimas’ which is set to make history next month when they compete in the Canadian Women’s Open Invitational tournament.
The Kanimas will be the first team in baseball to represent Guyana and Proprietor of German’s Restaurant; Clinton Urling said he was elated to be of support to the team.
Urling who handed over the contribution to Kanimas Captain, Ms Nia Gonsalves, also offered words of encouragement to Gonsalves and team noting that, “Sport is a pathway to so many things, education, life’s lessons and empowerment. I look forward to seeing our ladies represent the Golden Arrowhead with pride and poise,” Urling ended.
Whilst thanking Urling and his company for their continued support towards sports in Guyana, Gonsalves pledged that the Kanimas will make a pathway for future female baseball teams to follow.
The tournament is set to be contested from August 4-8 and will be broadcast live on E-Networks.
