An East Canje taxi driver nearly lost his life during a failed hijacking of his vehicle yesterday morning at Welfare, East Canje, Berbice, and was stabbed multiple times about the body.
Chunilall Dunauth, 40, called ‘Ricky’ is now nursing four stab wounds about his body at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
According to information received, shortly after 10:00 am, the suspect clad in black clothing entered his vehicle, a silver Nissan Bluebird Sylphy, bearing licence number HC 4977, in the vicinity of New Street, New Amsterdam, and requested to be taken into Canje.
While arriving to his alleged destination, the man pulled out a knife and proceeded to stab Dudnauth who began shouting for help.
Dudnauth tried to fight off the hijacker who threw him out of the vehicle and attempted to drive off, but instead backed the car into a nearby drain.
