Dear Editor;
The question in the caption is asked because in excess of five (5) years have elapsed since I made a complaint to the Inspectorate Department of NIS at the Brickdam office in respect of a contribution related issue.
I submitted documents verifying my employment at Motor Transport Services Ltd. (1969 -1977) and then my redeployment to G.T.S.L where I worked up to 1985. At my retirement, I was designated, Superintendent, Mechanical Workshop.
My employment was continuous but contributions are not posted to my record for several years. It is against these omissions I have complained as I am denied my entitlement to an old age pension.
I have made silent enquiries and am informed that my contributions have been erroneously awarded to another person with similar fore-name and surname to mine and for some incomprehensible reason, no-one seems willing to correct this anomaly.
I have begged almost every senior officer at the NIS Brickdam including the new Chairman of the Board through his secretary but to no avail. NIS preaches “we care” but the only care manifested in my case is carelessness and “I don’t care a damn attitude”.
I, therefore, trust and pray that by going public, NIS will be moved by my frustration and seek to grant the remedies I request; the update of my contribution record and resulting entitlement to old age pension from the date I attained sixty (60) years of age.
Five years in my opinion, is time sufficient enough to conclude an investigation into a person’s employment and missing contributions. I hope that someone will take up my case as I am without resources to seek legal redress.
A Bacchus
