Guyana’s Top Male & Female Badminton Players, SUNBURST sponsored Narayan
Ramdhani & Priyanna Ramdhani are currently in the Quarter Finals at the Pan American Junior Badminton Championships July 19-23, 2016 at the Centro de Alto Rendimiento Lima Peru. Both players are not only playing in the tournament but up against High Altitude and Cold conditions as its Peru’s Winter Period.
Guyana’s Pan Am four time medalist Priyanna Ramdhani again performed at her best by defeating Peru’s top player Adriana Bernales Pinillos, who was much taller than Priyanna, to reach the Quarter-Finals in the girls’ singles.
The games started with Priyanna coming back from 2 points down to tie at 3 all and then took the lead, playing some tight drop shots and deep cross court smashes to win the match: 21-18.
The second game saw her having to pace herself to maintain her stamina due to the altitude in Peru, which forces more energy usage. She fought hard in a close contest coming back from behind again to level at 20-20 then take the match at 22-20. The Peruvian player was issued with a yellow card for indiscipline during the contest.
Narayan Ramdhani & Shea Martin who got past Ailton Josue Correa Martinez & Francisco Rafael Trevino Buenrostro of Mexico to reach the quarter finals in the Doubles.
More action was set for yesterday.
The Guyana Badminton Association express thanks to The Guyana Olympic Association & National Sports Commission, Mr. Yesu Persaud of Demerara Bank, Mr. Philip DaSilva, Mr. Neville Osman & Continental Group of Companies (SUNBURST) for their contribution to help make this Tour possible.
