Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan yesterday released a man on bail and placed him on a bond
after it was alleged that he threatened to kill his wife with a gun.
The man, James McKenzie of Public Road, Kitty, Georgetown, is accused of using threatening behaviour to his wife, whom he resides with, on July 17 at their home.
McKenzie, who was unrepresented by an attorney, pleaded not guilty to the charge read to him by Magistrate McLennan in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts. He was released on $20,000 bail and placed on a bond to be on good behaviour until completion of the matter.
Police Prosecutor Deniro Jones told the court that on the day in question, the defendant pulled out a gun and threatened to kill his wife. The wife claimed that her husband still has the gun and she has since taken out a protection order.
The matter has been adjourned until September 12.
