Dear Editor,
I would like to commend Mrs. Lutchmin Khan for her piece in the Kaieteur news on Saturday July 16, 2016 on the stink matter and awful scent at the chick section of the Bourda Market. Mrs. Khan has hit the nail on the head. This matter has been reported numerous times to Mr. Lovell, Clerk of Market to no avail. When Mr. Schuler and Miss Simone were there, fowl litter was not in the passageway. My sale has dropped by more than 50% as customers kept complaining about the passageway being hogged for the convenience of one stallholder. As a result, I had to lay off two of my staff. Chicken litter should not be in the thoroughfare. I hope that this matter is resolved soon.
I wrote this piece so that the relevant authority will realize how offensive this situation is. Stallholders have expenses to endure, included in such overhead expenses is stall rental. If the stall rent is not paid by the end of the month, it attracts a penalty and the Authority has ignored the request by other stallholders for the passageway to be free of all encumbrances.
I wanted to commend Mr. Glen Lall for his excellent work that allows persons with grievance to publish their grievance without any cost so that the higher authority will know what is happening.
Ramlall
