After an exciting three days of individual events the team events are finally here. Team Guyana ended up with three individual titles and several of our players reached the semi-finals and finals. Paige Fernandes captured her first individual title by winning the Girls Under 11, Shomari Wiltshire retained the Boys Under 13 title that he had won for the first time last year, while Larissa Wiltshire in her fourth attempt finally captured that elusive Caribbean title by winning the Girls Under 19 in a classic showdown with her teammate Taylor Fernandes.
Also reaching the finals was Kirsten Gomes who finished runner-up in the Girls Under 13, while her teammates Abosaide Cadogan and Madison Fernandes finished third and fourth respectively in the same category. Mohyryan Baksh finished fourth in the Boys Under 11, Makeda Harding finished third in the Girls Under 15, while Daniel Islam finished fourth in the Boys Under 15, Rithew Saywack finished fourth in the Boys Under 17 and Ben Mekdeci finished fourth in the Boys Under 19.
The team events started yesterday with Guyana girls taking on Jamaica. Taylor Fernandes will once again take to the court against Alyssa Mullings in a repeat of their Girls Under 19 semi – finals match-up which Taylor won. There are only six girls teams so each team will play each other to determine the Girls Team champion.
In the Boys Team event Guyana is in a pool with Cayman Islands and Jamaica with the top two teams coming out to play semi – final matches against the top two teams from the other pool.
