A 28-year-old mechanic who dealt a sound thrashing on his lover’s reputed husband, after the man came home and caught him in bed with the woman was yesterday remanded to prison on an attempted murder charge.
It is alleged that on July 2, at Georgetown, Stephon Barlow unlawfully and maliciously wounded Sherwin Johnson with intent to murder him.
Barlow was not required to plead to the indictable charge that was read to him by Magistrate Fabayo Azore in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Police Prosecutor, Deniro Jones objected to bail for the accused on the ground that the victim is still hospitalized in a critical condition. He also pointed out the gravity of the offence.
On Tuesday, Barlow’s lover, Alexis Tappin, was remanded to prison after she was charged with the same offence.
According to reports Tappin and Johnson have a child together and lived in Lodge, Georgetown. It is alleged that on the day in question, Johnson came home and found her in bed with Barlow. It is alleged that the two accused dealt Johnson several stabs about his body with a crow bar.
The duo will make their next court appearance on July 27.
