The Assuria Insurance Company has added its name early to the 10th annual Guyana Cup Horserace meet. The mega Guyana Cup Horserace meet which is organized by the Jumbo Jet Auto Sales and racing stable in collaboration with the Port Mourant Turf Club is slated for Sunday August 14th at the Port Mourant “Big Yard’ turf Club, Corentyne Berbice.
The event has already attracted prize monies totaling over $22M which includes cash, trophies and other incentives. The event will also form a part of Guyana Golden Jubilee Independence Anniversary celebrations.
A total of eight races are carded for the day’s card which also has a number of extra incentives for winners and other outstanding performers.
On Thursday Operations Manager of the Assuria Insurance Company Clyde H. Muntslag presented a cheque to the organisers of the event at their office, Lot 78 Church Street, South Cummingsburg, Georgetown.
According to the Manager, the company has over the years observed the magnitude of the Guyana Cup event and is glad to be associated with an event of such enormous proportion.
They join companies such as Fix It Vulcanizing and Tire Shop of West Coast Berbice, Hand In Hand Insurance Company, Colours Boutique of Georgetown, Banks DIH Limited, Trophy Stall, B.M Soat Auto Sales, Jameel Bar and Entertainment Lounge, the Muneshwar Store and the Hyper Malt Beverage Company.
The feature event is for horses classified “A” and lower over 1600M for a winning money of $4M and the Guyana Cup Trophy from a total package of $8M.
The other races are the Co-feature 1600M event for 3yrs old horses, bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies, for a hefty $2M and trophy.
The Two year old event is for West Indies Bred horses for a $1M and trophy over 1000M.
The E class event has $1M and trophy for the winner over 1300M. The G3 and lower 1300M gallop has a winning tag of $700,000 and trophy. The H and lower 1400M race has a winning pocket of $500,000 and trophy.
The animals classified J and K and lower will race for $350,000 and trophy over 1100M. The L class 1000M race has a winning purse of $250,000 and trophy.
Also a number of added attractions and incentives will be up for grabs which will entice the owners and animals to perform to their best. The winners of the A class, the three year old event and the two year old races will collect an extra $500,000, $400,000 and $200,000 bonuses respectively.
The jockeys riding the respective animals in those events will all ride away with an extra $50,000 bonus.
The top Jockey along with the runner up, the top stable and champion trainer will all be presented with trophies and other incentives compliments of the organizers and Trophy Stall.
The coordinator is Nasrudeen (Jumbo Jet) Mohamed Jnr. Bugle time is 12:00 hrs.
