Mohamed Imrazie Alli, for whom a wanted bulletin was issued on Tuesday, has surrendered to police.
His attorney, Bernard Da Silva, told Kaieteur News that he turned Alli over to the Police Narcotics Branch, Eve Leary, around noon yesterday.
In the bulletin police stated that Alli, called ‘Panta,’ was wanted for questioning in relation to trafficking in narcotics on June 8, last, at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport, Timehri, EBD.
The bulletin gave his age as 52 and his last known address as Lot 11 La Jalousie, West Coast Demerara.
Alli’s daughter and son were charged on that date in connection with the discovery of more than 18 pounds of cocaine in frozen fish at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA).
Shafur Alli, 27, of Lot 27 La Jalousie, West Coast Demerara and Lazena Imrazie, 22, of Lot 8 Goed Fortuin, West Bank Demerara, are accused of having 9.044 kilograms of cocaine in their possession on June 8, last, for the purpose of trafficking.
According to reports, ranks of the Police Narcotic Branch intercepted and seized the cocaine in a cargo shipment of frozen fish at the airport.
It is alleged that the defendants had declared 33 boxes of fish to be exported.
Last year May, Alli was charged with being in possession of 51.626 kilos of cocaine at Windsor Forest, West Coast Demerara, for the purpose of trafficking.
According to the police, the cocaine was transported to the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA) by an employee of Alli. It was concealed in 40 boxes of frozen shrimp. This matter is still before the court.
