Statistician Charwayne Walker today looks at the father son teaming that excelled at country and regional level in cricket. As he notes, when Guyanese Tagenarine Chanderpaul reached three figures against the Leeward Islands during the 2013 Regional Under-19 Championships in St. Kitts, he joined his father Shivnarine who scored 136 and 139 respectively against Trinidad and Tobago in 1992 at Bourda and 1993 at Warner’s Park in St. Kitts. The Chanderpauls became the second father and son duo to achieve this feat which was first done by Windward Islands Dominicans Lockhart and Liam Sebastien. Lockhart scored 125 against Trinidad and Tobago in 1975, while Liam scored 125 against Guyana in Jamaica in 2002.
Strangely enough, the Chanderpauls, Shivnarine and Tagenarine and the Constantines, Lebron and Leary are the only father and sons that feature together in a Regional First Class match. The Constantines played together against Barbados at Bourda in 1936, while the Chanderpauls emulated the feat in 2014 against Trinidad and Tobago at the Queens Park Oval.
