Hosororo, Santa Rosa, Mabaruma record early wins
Play in the Moruca Region 1 Digicel Schools Football playoff got underway over the weekend at that venue with several teams inking their names on winner’s row.
On Saturday Hosororo came from behind to beat Waramuri 4-2 on penalty kicks after regulation time ended 1-1.
Gustavo Peters gave Waramuri the lead after 35 minutes. Raphael Hernandez responded in the 80th for Hosororo.
On Sunday in a double header, host Santa Rosa cruised to an easy 4-0 win over Kamwatta with Rahul Archer netting treble in the 32, 41 and 70, while Dwayne Robeiro added the other in the 80th.
In the first encounter, Mabaruma defeated Wauna also by a 4-0 margin.
The goals scorers were Ronnie Perez 32nd, Daniel Lynch 48th, Junior Willis 79th and Lenardo Emanuel 85th.
Play in the tournament continued yesterday.
