Kcaysha Medas-King romps to USA Region 1 honours
Kcaysha Medas-King has done it again, repeating her performance of the 
past few weeks, this time she was at the United States Region 1 Junior Olympics in Albany.
Region 1 is made up of New York, Long Island, Maine, Connecticut, New England and Adirondack.
Kcaysha once again proved that she is one of the best 9-10 girls’ athletes in Region 1. She stormed to victory in the 100m, 200m and 400m events last weekend in Albany.
According to her father Andy, who has been a major supporter of his daughter, ‘The meet had its ups and downs with the weather having the better part of it, causing the times to be slow.
It was very cold with thunderstorms causing the officials to put the meet on hold for about an hour.’ Once the weather gave the athletes and officials a break, it was back to business as Kcaysha had to run the 100m finals then 30 minutes later, which turned out to be one of the highlights of the day, run a blistering 400m in the cold weather to come out on top.
After placing second in the preliminaries of the 100m, Medas-King did not disappoint, winning the 100m ahead of Abigail Charles and Amela Gullap according to results from the USATF website under the heading: 2016 USATF Region 1 Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships.
Onto the 200m, Medas-King won her heat and the final to add gold number 2 to her tally, beating Ashley Lee and Abigail Charles in that order.
Kcaysha then went onto replicating her previous performances in the 400m where she ran ahead of Abigail Charles and Alissa Graham respectively to claim gold number 3.
Kcaysha will now turn to the nationals where she would be vying to see who is the fastest 9-10 girl in the USA. This feat would begin on the 27th of July in Sacramento California and would be broadcast live on the usatf.tv
