The sound of thundering hoofs will fill the air when the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club in Alness Village Corentyne Berbice stages a grand one day horse race today at the Club’s facilities.
There will be five races and all eyes will be on the feature attraction between the horses classified in the H Class and Lower. This race will be over a distance of 1600M and the first jockey across the line will cart off $200,000. The second place finisher nets half that amount with the 3rd and 4th place finishers pocketing $50,000 and $25,000 respectively.
Then there is the ‘J Class & Lower over 1200M with first and second place prizes of $100,000 and $50,000 respectively, the 3rd place prize is $25,000 while the fourth place finisher receives $12,500. The other categories in contention are the K Class and Lower, the race between the 2 years old and the unclassified race. Activities get underway at 13:00hrs.
