Colours Boutique adds colour to Guyana Cup Horserace meet 2016
As preparations continue for the 10th Annual Guyana Cup and 50th Anniversary Jubilee Horserace meet more sponsors are getting on board. Colours Boutique of Georgetown which is one of the largest sneakers stores around has added some colour to the mega event.
The event, organised by the Jumbo Jet Businesses in collaboration with the Port Mourant Turf Club, is slated for Sunday 14th August at the Port Mourant Turf Club, beginning at 12:00 hrs.
Speaking at the simple presentation ceremony which was held a few days ago at the business entity in Georgetown the owner intoned that it is the first time that his company has been on board and he is happy to be associated with an event of such magnitude. He also noted that during the time when the event is held he usually get a tremendous increase in sales. As such, he jumped at the first opportunity to get on board with one of the largest sporting events in Guyana.
Eight races are listed for the day with $22M in cash, trophies and other incentives up for grabs.
The feature “A” and lower event has a whopping total prize package of $8M over 1600M with a first prize of $4M and the Guyana Cup Trophy for the winner. Second, third and fourth place finishers will collect $2M, $1M and $500,000 respectively.
The Co-feature 1600M event for 3yrs old horses, bred and born in Guyana and the West Indies, will see the winner taking home a handy $2M and trophy.
The Two year old event is for West Indies Bred horses and the winner gets $1M and trophy over 1000M.
There is also a $1M reward and trophy for the horse winning the E class and lower 1300M event.
The G3 and lower 1300M gallop has a winning tag of $700,000 and trophy. The H and lower 1400M race has a winning pocket of $500,000 and trophy.
The animals classified J and K and lower will race for $350,000 and trophy over 1100M. The L class 1000M race has a winning purse of $250,000 and trophy.
Incentives will go to the winner of the A class, the three year old event and the two year old races who will collect an extra $500,000, $400,000 and $200,000 bonuses respectively, while the winning jockeys in those races will all collect $50, 000 each.
Among other sponsors on board so far are Hand In Hand Insurance Company, Banks DIH Limited, Trophy Stall, B.M Soat Auto Sales, Jameel Bar and Entertainment Lounge, the Muneshwar Store and the Hyper Malt beverage company.
The top Jockey along with the runner up, the top stable and champion trainer will all be presented with trophies and other incentives compliments of the organizers and Trophy Stall.
