Dear Editor;
It was shocked and dismayed when I read the article in your publication re: pensioners who live overseas will be denied their pensions.
Is this Minister for real? Does this Minister arbitrarily make the rules?
We as overseas Guyanese have made our contribution to Guyana. Our blood sweat and tears are in Guyana. It is because of our contributions and hard work, she is a Minister today.
I made contributions to NIS for years. NIS and the Government have my money. As for the government pension, I am entitled to that because of my citizenship and contributions to my country. Who is this Minister to tell me that I cannot get my pension? Are we only Guyanese when it comes to going home to spend our money? Are we only needed to go home and have fun and spend our money for the independence jubilee celebrations? And by the way the developed countries give their citizens pensions no matter where they live. To deny deserving Guyanese their pensions because they live overseas is unjust. How low can we get?
