Two 17-year-old Linden youths were yesterday charged with the murder of Linden newspaper vendor Albert “Finny’ Ashby, who was stabbed to death outside his shop at Half Mile, Wismar, last week Friday.
The teens, from One Mile and Half Mile, Wismar, were remanded after appearing in the Wales Magistrate’s Court.
Ashby was found lying motionless last Friday evening in front of his shop where he has been selling newspapers for several years. He was pronounced dead at the Linden Hospital Complex.
A post mortem revealed that Ashby died as a result of an incised wound he sustained to the right side of his chest. Police sources said the wound appeared to have been inflicted with a bicycle spoke or similar object.
The teens were detained after an eyewitness placed them at the murder scene. There were reports that Ashby had been robbed earlier in the evening of a shoulder bag.
