Qualifying as the best first runner-up from Round 2, Guyana’s Golden Jaguars have been drawn to play Jamaica and old rivals Suriname in Round 3 Group 1 of the Scotiabank CFU Men’s Caribbean Cup Championship.
The Guyanese will face Jamaica at a venue still to be decided on October 5 next while hey will oppose old neighbours and rivals Suriname at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence, on October 8. The Surinamese will entertain the Reggae Boyz on October 11 at the Andre Kamperveen Stadium in Parimaribo.
Jamaica drew a bye to this round of the ongoing competition while Suriname qualified as the 4th best runner-up team from Round 2.
The Group 2 teams are Haiti, French Guiana (3rd best runner-up from round 2) and St. Kitts & Nevis (4th best runner-up from round 2). Group 3 comprises of Curacao (best ranked team from round 2), Antigua and Barbuda (2nd best runner-up from round 2) and Puerto Rico (5th group winner from round 2).
Group 4 has Trinidad and Tobago, Martinique (2nd group winner from round 2) and Dominican Republic (3rd group winner from round 2).
The three best runner-up teams from Round 3 will go into a playoff for 5th place between November 7 – 15, 2016 while the final round of qualifying is set for May, 2017 where the top three nations will qualify for the CONCACAF Gold Cup.
