Argentine Ambassador to Guyana, Luis Martino is presented with a painting of City Hall by Mayor Patricia Chase-Green
Argentina’s Ambassador to Guyana, Luis Martino, on Tuesday paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of Georgetown, Patricia Chase-Green at City Hall.
Later, Ambassador Martino said that coincidentally, as Guyana celebrates her 50th Anniversary of Independence, his homeland Argentina celebrates its 200th Independence Anniversary.
The Argentine Ambassador who has been in Guyana since 2013, stated that he is looking forward to collaborating with the Mayor and City Council on projects that would be mutually beneficial to his country and the development of Georgetown.
One such project, he noted, will be the restoration of some 50 paintings at Guyana’s premiere art gallery, Castellani House. He indicated that a team of restoration experts from Argentina will be coming in the near future to work on the restoration of the pieces of art. This venture is aimed at improving and strengthening Argentina’s relationship with Guyana.
He identified areas such as “Green zones” and recreation parks that Argentina will team up with the M&CC to develop in Georgetown.
At the end of his visit Mayor Chase-Green presented Ambassador Luis Martino with a “plate painting” of the City Hall building.
