The opening of bids at the National Procurement and Tender Administration Board (NPTAB) yesterday attracted highly competitive bidding. This was especially evident with regard to a contract for the construction of a nurses’ hostel, in the New Amsterdam School of Nursing compound.
The engineer’s estimate for this project, which was tendered under the Ministry of Public Health, was $60.1M. Fourteen (14) companies submitted bids.
There was another contract under the Ministry of Public Health, to extend the New Amsterdam School of Nursing building. The engineer’s estimate was $30.4M.
Meanwhile, under the Ministry of Education, bidders vied for a contract to reprint and deliver textbooks under the national book distribution drive, at the Primary School level. The bidding was done in lots one to three. There were also bidders seeking to carry out rehabilitation works at the Ministry of the Presidency’s cabinet rooms. The engineer’s estimate was $32.1M.
The Regional Democratic Council for Region Six put out a tender for a contractor to construct a building that could accommodate classrooms at the Upper Corentyne Technical Institute, Region No. Six. The engineer’s estimate was $20.8M.
There were also bids to supply, install and test equipment at the Essequibo Technical Institute.
There was a tender on behalf of the Wildlife Management Authority for the supply and delivery of a new, double cab 4×4 pickup vehicle. Only one bid was opened.
Finally, under the Guyana Energy Agency (GEA) there was a tender for the supply and delivery of a new Mini Bus.
