Two men accused of stealing an engine were each released on $50, 000 bail after pleading not guilty to a simple larceny charge when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
It is alleged that on June 23, at Burma, Berbice River, Keon Simpson, 25 and Orlando Felix, 27, stole an the engine valued $3.1 million– property of the Bauxite Company of Guyana.
The court was told that Simpson who resides in Mackenzie, Linden was initially released on $50,000 station bail, while Felix was on $25,000.
Police Prosecutor, Corporal Deniro Jones had no objections to the men being granted pre-trial liberty. He told the court that the defendant admitted to steal the boat which has since been recovered by police.
The duo will make their next court appearance on July 15, at the Kwakwani Magistrate’s Court.
