Harold ‘Top Gun’ Hopkinson by the slightest of margins won the senior category of the Merriman’s Funeral Home sponsored Guyana National Rifle Association – Smallbore Section organized Practical Pistol Shoot that took place on Sunday last at the Timehri Rifle Range.
Hopkinson tallied 98 points beating into second place Ryan McKinnon by a single point with Gordon Richards placing third on 94 points. Ryan Beharry was next with 91 while Rajiv Latchana occupied the fifth place with 79 points.
Joseph Lewis emerged as the junior winner with 55 points ahead of Gordon Pearson in second with 45 points. Leslie Lewis and John Ferreira was third and fourth with 43 and 29 points respectively.
Smallbore Captain Dale Hing informed that the event was contested over three stages and despite the weather not being in their favour for the second and third stages, they shot nonetheless.
Captain Hing also disclosed that the next competition will be a .22 Precision Pistol Shoot on July 16th at the Tactical Service Unit Range, Eve Leary.
