To replace TD and GS shortly – Exco Member, Inniss
The Guyana Football Federation (GFF) has part ways with former General Secretary Ms Diedre
Davis who was given her letter of dismissal on June 22nd last.
When quizzed at a press conference yesterday to give a reason for Ms Davis’ dismissal, Executive Committee Member Dion Inniss said that the federation will be issuing a detailed release.
“We did separate from Ms Davis who served during the NC and this executive. This was made know to our membership first and while I would not want to deal with this too much at this press conference, we’ll like to focus on the match Sunday, I will say that in due course that information, details about that would be dealt with at a subsequent or release.”
Inniss also noted: “The General Secretary, having been the, I’d say the backbone of any member association must and should always command complete confidence of an executive and I dare say the President and I would leave it as that.”
The Executive Member further informed that one of the requirements of FIFA to draw down on funding is to have a Technical Director and General Secretary in place.
“That is on the front burner, that’s engaging our attention; we’ve had so many applications for the TD position which is engaging our attention. We cannot allow of course our funding to be cut off so we have to ensure that those two very important positions are filled.”
Davis was one of 35 participants that attended the second edition of FIFA’s Female Leadership Development Programme (FLDP) that took place in Zurich, June 6-9. It was launched in 2015 to ensure that there are female role models and women at decision-making levels in football, the FLDP aims to identify, support and develop strong female leaders in the sport, while advocating for women to access senior decision-making positions globally. The programme runs over nine months in total.
Mr. Merson Jones, the Deputy General Secretary is performing duties as General Secretary of the GFF.
