The Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) is inviting Berbicians to submit nominations for two of its major awards, the fourth Ansa Mcal Award of Excellence and the Gregory Gaskin Memorial Berbice Sports Awards.
Theses awards are administered by the Educational and Public Relations Committee of the club and the final awardees are chosen by a panel of judges headed by Veteran journalist Gregory Rambarran.
In a release from the club, Secretary/CEO Hilbert Foster informed that the Ansa Mcal Award of Excellence will honour four outstanding Berbicians for service of the highest standard in the fields of sports administration, education, health and community development.
All of the nominees must Berbicians, be positive role models to youths, have completed between 20-30 years of dedicated and outstanding service in the four fields listed above. The club would like to inform that functioning as a member of Parents/Teacher Associations does not count as dedicated service in the field of education.
The Gregory Gaskin Memorial Berbice Sports Award would also see four persons being rewarded. Nominations are invited for the Berbice Sportsman of the Year 2015, Berbice Sportswoman of the Year 2015, Berbice Sports Personality of the Year 2015 and the Berbice Sports Association of the Year 2015.
The two individual awards would be selected based on outstanding performances during 2015 while representing Berbice, Guyana or the West Indies while the Sports Personality award would be given to the individual who worked beyond the call of duty to promote their sports throughout the ancient county.
The Sports Association Award would honour the association that has consistently organised tournaments and training programmes in promotion of their discipline. Foster is encouraging Berbicians to submit their nominations via registered mail to the RHTY&SC Office, Area ‘H’ Ground, Rose Hall Town or email to [email protected].
The name of the person nominating, their address, telephone number and email address must be included along with detailed reasons for the nomination.
