Dear Editor,
Please permit me a space in your newspaper to add my voice of congratulation to the recipients of the recent National Award which were announced on May 25, 2016.
Sir having examining the list of awardees, I am convinced that 98% of the awardees were persons who would have served this country and their countrymen with honour and dignity. It is therefore negligence or a clear case of political biasness not to have recogonise these persons. Hence I say hats off to the Granger led APNU+AFC administration.
However as stated before the 2% that I did not found favour with have to do with the lone female police officer that received the Discipline Service Method, reasons being: never before according to my recollection was this medal awarded to a Senior Superintendent.
Are we to believe that the long list of active Assistant Commissioners only one such officer was worthy of receiving a medal and if I may one of the very officer referred to are currently serving in the capacity as Assistant Commissioner – Administration. Sir I have been following the recent exchanges between the Commissioner of Police and the former Home Affairs Minister Mr. Clement Rohee and from what I have concluded, I wish to caution the APNU+AFC government to be weary of the Commissioner’s statements since in my view those utterances are to assure them of his support while he continues to operate as the Commissioner. In conclusion I will be happy if the Minister of Public Security will say to this public whether the Commissioner has been paid in lieu of his three (300) hundred and odd days vocational leave.
