Santos drew level with points leaders Western Tigers on account of a composed 4-1win over Police when play in the Georgetown Football Association / Stag Premier League continued at the GFC ground on Thursday night last.
Also taking full points in their encounter were Northern Rangers who swamped Beacon 16-0. Santos virtually sealed full points before the half way point of their clash with Police which has been one of the hot teams in the league so far but Santos cooled down the law enforcement officers.
Kevon McPherson in the 27th minute, Travis Jones in the 37th minute, Jermaine Castello – two minutes later and Anthio Wallace in the 58th minute were the players to score for Santos while Police’s consolation goal came off the boot of Wayne McLennon in the 60th minute.
Northern Rangers ran riot on Beacons defence to rack up a phenomenal 16-0 win, the largest margin of victory in the league so far.
This win was achieved through a helmet-trick from Shamar Semple and three hat-tricks from Sunil Logan, Stephon Reynolds and Nigel Denny, not a normal sight to see three treble’s in a single match.
Semple rocked the nets in the 10th,19th, 48th and 52nd minute. Logan got his goals in the 6th, 36th and 65th; Reynolds hit the network in the 8th, 12th and 22nd; Denny inked his name on the score sheets in the 60th, 74th and 77th minute, while there was one goal each for Devon Caesar (28th), Trevon Lewis (35th) and Gavin Bobb on the stroke of half time.
Matches will continue tomorrow at the same venue when Santos will oppose Beacon from 18:00hrs with the main attraction between Western Tigers and Northern Rangers from 20:30hrs. (Franklin Wilson)
