Republic Bank (Guy) Ltd has renewed its sponsorship of the Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club, M.S annual August Holiday Camp for the 11th consecutive year. The Bank on Friday last renewed its sponsorship at the cost of
Theresa Foo of Republic Bank hands over sponsorship to RHTYSC Executive Member Mark Papannah in the presence of other staff.
$160,000 for the 2016 edition which would cater for 60 students drawn from Primary Schools in the Lower Corentyne area.
Secretary/CEO of the RHTYSC, Hilbert Foster at the simple presentation ceremony stated that the camp’s main objective was to ensure that primary school students make a successful transition to Secondary School, while at the same time making sure that they understand the importance of an educational background and involvement in sports as an alternative to a life on the road.
The Camp would be conducted by experienced educators who would tutor the students in Maths, English, Social Studies, Integrated Science, English ‘B’ and basic Spanish. The students would also be involved in several lectures on topics of importance to them including Peer Pressure, Choosing friends, Personal Discipline, Personal Hygiene, Suicide, Drug Abuse, Importance of Education, Manners in the Classroom, Table Manners, how to properly use Facebook, Value of Research and the Importance of Research. The students would also be coached on the basics of playing cricket by the Club’s coaching staff.
The long serving Club Secretary/CEO hailed the long standing and highly successful relationship between his Club and Republic Bank, stating that the support of the financial institution is one of the reasons why the RHTYSC, M.S is widely regarded as Guyana’s leading youth and sports organisation. He expressed total confidence that the 2016 summer camp would achieve all of its objectives and that all 60 students would make a successful transition to Secondary School when school reopens in September.
Republic Bank (Guy) Ltd is one of the RHTYSC, M.S biggest sponsors and every year co-sponsors the Club’s annual awards ceremony, annual youth magazine, Cricket commentary and Charity programmes among others. Foster expressed gratitude to the staff of the Rose Hall Branch especially Manager Harry Dass Ghaness, Theresa Foo, Samantha Leitch and Seema Brijlal. The Camp would be organised by the Club’s Over 35 Section and Farfan and Mendes Under 15, Bakewell Under 17 and Second Division, Pepsi Under 19 and Intermediate, Metro Female and Gizmos and Gadgets Under 21 and First Division cricket teams under the supervision of the Club Secretary/CEO.
