The future stars of Guyana’s football continued to make their presence felt when
competition in the GFF/NAMILCO Thunderbolt Flour Power National Under-17 Intra Association Leagues continued yesterday across Guyana.
Playing at the Tucville ground in the City, Eastveldt marched to a huge 9-0 win over Pele thanks to a hat-trick off the boot of Shemar Babb who blasted the nets in the 6th, 27th and 44th minute.
Pele did not trouble the Eastveldt back four and goalie as it was all action in their {Pele} defensive third, which was the scene of relentless offensive maneuvers by the Eastveldt side. Babb found able support from Calvin Peters (8th, 62nd) and Tion Van Kenric (63rd, 69th) who both netted a double each. Isaiah Nero scored in the 35th while an own goal in the 12th minute competed the rout for the winners.
Fruta Conquerors took full points in their match against Santos, blanking them 3-0. The juice boys got their goals from Joel Yhap in the 21st minute, Nicholas Mc Arthur three minutes later with Malachai Adonis sealing the deal in the 69th minute.
Alpha United won by a similar 3-0 margin over Order of Discipline; this win was orchestrated by goals from Julian Bamfield in the 24th minute, Daniel Augstus in the 38th and Cleon Robertson in the 69th.
GFC, on account of strikes from Kellon Blue (20) and Willison De Santos (38) blanked the Campbellville based Camptown, 2-0.
Up on the East Coast of Demerara, The East Demerara Football Association (EDFA) continued matches at the BV ground.
Mahaica Determinators continued their winning form with a big 6-0 win over Plaisance Panthers, five of those goals coming in the first half as Plaisance proved a sturdier opponent in the final 45 minutes.
Nigel Mansfield opened with a double in the 12th and 14th minutes while teammate Julius Hamilton made it 3-0 in the 15th minute.
Plaisance, in their first match was clearly overwhelmed by the boys from Mahaica who were not done just yet. Gary Jardine got into the goal scoring with a brace of his own in the 18th and 29th minutes as the half ended 5-0 in favour of Mahaica which had trounced BV Triumph United 4-0 one week earlier in their opening match.
A much more composed Plaisance only allowed one more goal in the second half which was netted by Orland Adams in the 59th minute, Mahaica prevailing 6-0.
In the afternoon’s opening match, Golden Stars on the back of a double, one either side of play from Stephon Raymond defeated Bachelor’s Adventure/Paradise 2-0. Raymond hit the network in the 31st and 47th minute.
