Volleyball clubs on the Essequibo Coast, which were established by the Guyana Police Force, on Friday received volleyballs from the president, of the local organization Imran Baskh.
The presentation was done in the Anna Regina court hall. In attendance were commander of “ G” Division, Mr. Kevin Adonis and his deputy as well as other senior ranks and members of the various clubs in the region.
Adonis said briefly that the police force has plans to engage youths during the August holidays. Sergeant Clerk of “G” Division, who also acts as treasurer of the Essequibo Volleyball Association, said the organisation is willing and ready to get volleyball up and running. Youth involvement is critical Clerk added and that’s why focus is centered on the youths
Meanwhile, president of the Essequibo Volleyball Association, Imran Baksh said while the EVA was active years ago, it was in March of this year the organisation was resuscitated under his stewardship and since that time fifteen clubs were established in the region. The organisation has persons between the age of 9-35 and Baksh is enforcing that his team is willing and ready to challenge teams from Demerara and Berbice as early as the 23rd, of July at Lake Mainstay.
