Dear Editor,
Please provide me a space to speak of this uncivilized and uncaring action of the Victoria people for their own infrastructure. Editor it is enough that we have a main access road that is in a deplorable state that has deteriorated to the extent that it had been patched up by the taxi drivers with the help of a truck from the NDC.
Now the road to the eastern end is being damaged by swimming children and adults. This road is used as a main access to the back lands for farmers, this same road once use by workers of the coconut industry that existed there some years back and also the students and workers of the agriculture school that our past president Burnham had established many years ago.
Victorians are destroying that road. To even travel on it, is a danger because the bottom to a great extent has been washed away by the constant splash and lash of water on it. I called on the village counsel to do something about this, or even the N.D.C. We cannot allow this to continue to happen. A trench that is about 15 ft. wide at other points is now 50meters or more wide at the swimming spot. I ask the people of this historical village to care what we have, for we know what we have, we don’t know what we will get. I recommend that a swimming place be created for the people of the Victoria, Village ECD, a structure that can handle the lash and splash of water.
Samuel Gillis

This brings tears to my eyes. Our ancestral home, the symbol of our ancestors determination to forge their own path, after 23 years of neglect, continuing to be neglected by those the votes of the Village put into power.
