A man who is currently before the court for a multi-million-dollar fraud was yesterday released on bail for a similar offence, when he appeared before the Chief Magistrate in the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.
Floyd Primo, 31, also known as ‘Wild Buck’, is accused of obtaining the sum of $5M from Karen Persaud by pretending he was in position to sell her a plot of land located at Republic Park, East Bank Demerara.
The incident occurred between May 1 and May 31, last year at Georgetown.
Primo a businessman of D’Urban Street, Georgetown, denied the allegation after it was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan. He was released on $500,000 bail and instructed to return to court on June 29.
Primo was represented by Attorney George Thomas, who requested for him to be released on bail.
The Attorney pointed out that Primo had no involvement in the crime. He explained that the complainant made an agreement with Marjorie Edinborough, whom he said is fingered in the fraud probe.
Police Prosecutor, Deniro Jones, had no objections to bail and asked that it be set in a substantial amount with reporting conditions.
Primo is currently a remand prisoner. He was refused bail earlier this month by the Chief Magistrate after he was accused of swindling Persaud of $13.7M in another house lot scam.
He has also been charged for obtaining $13,750,000 from Karen Persaud during May 2015, by pretending that he was in a position to sell her a piece of land located at Public Road Kitty, Georgetown.
He has denied both allegations.
It was reported that the complainants discovered that they were being scammed after Primo turned up at the Deed’s Registry with a fake National Identification card. He reportedly left for the original document but never returned.
