Tucville, Albouystown play to thrilling draw
Utilising every available space to view the action, a capacity crowd witnessed some enthralling
matches as play in the Ministry of Health Soft Shoe Football Competition continued on Sunday evening, at the sponsor’s ground on Brickdam and Vlissingen Road.
The competition which is being played under the ‘Stop Gender-based Violence’ theme, the game of the night was between Tucville and Albouystown which ended in a thrilling 4-4 stalemate.
Tucville took the lead after 34 seconds through Dennis Edwards, who created enough space between himself and his marker to let loose a powerful right-footed strike that raced past the goalkeeper, before nestling in the goal.
The early onslaught gave fans a preview as to what was in store and Albouystown gained the equaliser courtesy of a Roy Samuels effort after he deftly chipped past the rushing keeper in the eight minute.
Two minutes later, Kelsey Benjamin re-established Tucville’s advantage with a neat dribble past a defender, before lashing through the goalkeeper’s legs for a 2-1 lead.
Benjamin, a player of immense talent continued his mastery and outfoxed his marker, before sliding his effort past the keeper after twenty-one minutes to reinforce their dominance on the game.

Once again Albouystown showed its tenacity and rattled Tucville with two quick goals in three minutes with Kemo Scott, being the hero.
The rangy striker, who has been having a good tournament so far first fired past the keeper in the 23rd and then returned in the 26th to net the equaliser with what has been described as the goal of the tournament.
It came from a long pass from the back and he leaped high in the air to deliver a glancing header from the top of his head past a surprised goalkeeper to evoke rapturous applause from the appreciative fans.
Staggered by the turn of events, Tucville somehow re-gathered their focus and regained the lead in the 28th minute when Tefon Daly beat the keeper to his left, before Tevin Curry’s late strike ended a thriller.
In other results, Cross Street and Bent Street fought to a 3-3 draw with Job Caesar, Ryan Hackett and Sheldon Profit netting in the 10th, 13th and 15th minute respectively for Cross Street, while.Konata Manning was the lone marksman for Bent Street scoring a hat-trick in the 12th, 14th and 17th minutes.
West Front Road-Gold is Money rebounded from a two-goal deficit to earn a 2-2 draw with Broad Street.
Ryan Jones and Devon Johnson netted for Broad Street in the 12th and 19th minutes, while Michael Oie and Randolph Wagner did the same for West Front Road in the 21st and 23rd minutes respectively.
Sophia beat California Square via walkover, while North East La Penitence outlasted Young Ballers 4-2. Calvin Moore, Kelvin Moore and Jamal Scott scored in the fifth, seventh and 15th minutes each while an own goal in the 27th minute completed their tally.
Emil Cusburt and Shawn Mohammed scored in the sixth and 21st minutes respectively for Young Ballers.
Alexander Village then registered an upset win over the fancied Festival City, easing to a 2-0 win with Ryan October hitting in a brace in the second and 21st minutes.
Action in the event is slated to continue at the same venue tomorrow evening with six more games scheduled.
In the opening fixture at 19:00hrs, Laing Avenue go up against Campbellville from 19:45hrs.
The third fixture at 20:30hrs, West Back Road takes on Channel-9 Warriors, while Tucville and North East La Penitence square off at 21:15hrs.
In the fifth game Cross Street engage Globe Yard and in the final encounter, Festival City tackle North Ruimveldt at 22:30hrs.
