The second annual Juicy Juice Inter Primary Schools Windball Cricket competition organised by Albion Cricket Club is set to bowl off on Friday at the Albion Community Center from 10:00hrs.

The six-over round-robin competition, which will see the top four teams advancing to the semi finals, will see Albion, Belvedere, Courtland, Fyrish and Cropper Primary Schools doing battle.
At a simple presentation ceremony yesterday at sponsors Sueria Manufacturing, Eccles, Industrial Site, East Bank Demerara, Managing Director Frank Sanicharra stated that it was a pleasure for his company to be partnering with the Albion Cricket Club for the second consecutive year to bring off a competition that has been developing youths for the highest level.
“This investment forms part of Sueria’s corporate role in giving back to society, especially our youths who are our future. From the inception we felt it was an excellent idea to be on board and here we are for the second year. We wish all the teams best of success and encourage the players to play hard but play fair.”
Albion Cricket Club President Imtiaz Bacchus expressed his club’s gratitude to Sanichara and his company for staying the course for another year. Bacchus informed that the competition will be played using the round-robin format for the preliminary stages with the top four teams moving into the semis.
The students will battle for 6 overs in the prelims this Friday and 8-overs in the semis and finals which will be played on June 24th at Albion.
Bacchus also informed that a number of players who have been a part of this tournament which has been in existence for the past 10 years have gone on to play at the highest level including Gudakesh Motie-Kanhai, Kandasammy Surujnarine and Balchand Baldeo among others.
