Dear Editor;
It seems that my advocacy in the ‘Voice of the Liberal Democrats’ column in KN on June 8, on behalf of the poor and the working class especially the unemployed youths seemed to have rattled one of the new paid propagandist writing as Leon Hunte (fake or real, be my guest). Well good for him because my work survived Kwame and it will survive Leon and all the other paid propagandists.
I, however, will leave aside the personal ranting from this Leon (real or fake, be my guest). But I must address three issues. One, you will never stifle the voice of the independent thinkers or for that matter the voice of the liberal democrats. We are a solid middle that has kept Guyana from becoming a Zimbabwe over the last 50 years. Our message is not to pull down, but to protect Guyana from politicians who seems to think that the Treasury was left behind by their “momma and papa” for their personal use; it was not.
Secondly, why does a Guyanese have to be pro-PPP or pro-PNC? Why can’t you accept that we must be pro-Guyana first? Did this paid propagandist actually read the article and observe how I called out the period of waste under the PPP? No, his blinkered view did not see that, he only have one purpose; follow the instructions from his narrow-minded bosses.
Thirdly why over the last 50 years our people are continual forced into a situation of “Panem et Circenses” (Latin for Bread and Circus). Remember how the PPP used the “Hits and Jam” set up to keep the people in drunken stupor, now we using “parade, party and palance” to keep the people in drunken stupor. Why can’t the powerful elite not understand our nation has bled too much over the last 50 years and the wound has to be tended to now, not next year or the year after?
So this message is for the newly minted Kwame now parading as Leon and all his cohorts, I will do whatever it take to advocate for the consistent position that that taxpayers’ money is spent for the people, especially the young who are stuck on the breadline for years.
We must stop spending taxpayers’ money trying to construct false legacies in the cloud. Thus for me, the choice is easy – empower 5,000 youths with new skills in a capacity building programs by spending G$600 million or spending the same G$600 million of taxpayer money on jump up, jubilee and j’overt? So the agenda has nothing to do with who is pro-PPP and who is pro-PNC and ever thing to do with who is pro-Guyana.
