Dear Editor,
The “Liberal Democrat” Sase Singh is on a roll a political rock and role. In his article (KN 6/6/16), he admitted his love for “Parade Party and parlance” (PPP). Well, why not? He came from the PPP, then rolled over to the AFC, and rocked towards APNU and made a swing back to AFC, Which stopped the music. But when we thought his political dance was over, he sways towards PPP again!
When you read Sase you might think you are hearing Jagdeo: “hundreds of millions of the people’s money were recklessly diverted and wasted on D’urban Park”. Before the Jubilee celebrations D’urban Park was “bush” Now it is a sprawling, beautiful landscape with seating for 25,000 persons. During the historic flag-raising on May 26th, some 44,000 persons where comfortably accommodated. This number of people never gathered before for a patriotic, national event. It was worth the money spent to create this new landmark and for the out-pouring of our national pride and patriotism. I am sorry, Mr. Singh that you missed out. But you are free to the crab-dance! I am sure were you there, you would have joined Jagdeo in his walkout as the Golden Arrow Head was about to Unfurled.
Leon Hunte

Mr Hunte, your point of beautifying Durban Park is well taken. However, you should also note that the stadium will be a liability unless this is rented out to make it a revenue earner. How much it can compete for this space with National Park or with the stadium at Providence only time will tell.
For reference the story of the ant and the grasshopper should be noted. The industry of the ant compels to save food for difficult times. On the other hand a grasshopper eats its way always. It is winter, there is nothing for the grasshopper to survive on, so it sought help from the ant. The ant asked the grasshopper what it was doing all summer. The grasshopper replied that it was singing. The ant then replied that if you sang during summer then you will dance in winter. The lesson here is we need to have our priorities right. Countries like Guyana need to focus more on revenue earning enterprises if it is going to make any headway.
